The Second Festival of Roma Culture and Activism (FRKA)

The Festival of Roma Culture and Activism (FRCA) was held in the establishment MikserHaus on September 30th and October 1st.

During the second edition of the festival, there were numerous discussions on the current issues and current situation regarding the social inclusion of Roma in Serbia, then screenings of films, interactive visual arts, and concerts.

Debate panels dealing with various topics (Roma education, employment, rights of Roma women and girls, housing rights, etc.) were followed by films dealing with the lives of Roma in this region. DejanMarkovicfrom the Serbian Roma Forum participated in the panel discussion “Employment: overcoming the problems of systemic exclusion”.

Within the musical programofon the first day of the festival, the groupsKALand the group  Grubb(Gypsy Roma Urban Balkan Beats) did concerts witha number of guests from cultural and public life , while on October 1st,Roma bend Very Naiss from Niš, Bilja Krstić, Ana Stanić  and Bojana Stamenov performed Roma songs, at the event called “Ladies sing Roma blues “.

The Festival of Roma Culture and Activism is organized by the Roma Cultural Center in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner forHuman Rights (OHCHR) and the Center for the production of knowledge and skills.
